Former Metrodome and Little Film Co. Execs Launch New Sales and Production Outfit

by Variety - October 29, 2016

Caroline Couret-Delegue and Elie Mechoulam have launched a new international film sales and production company, Truffle Pictures, based in London.

Couret-Delegue was formerly head of sales and acquisitions at Metrodome International, which went into administration, the British version of Chapter 11, in August. Mechoulam previously served as director of sales and marketing at worldwide film sales and marketing firm The Little Film Co.

The first titles announced for the company’s slate are John Jencks’ “The Hippopotamus,” formerly a Metrodome title, and “We Go On,” directed by Jesse Holland and Andy Mitton. The company will unveil the rest of its initial slate of titles at the AFM in November.

“The Hippopotamus,” currently in post-production, is a comedy based on the novel by Stephen Fry. It stars Roger Allam as an embittered poet seeking solace in alcohol with an old friend at his country house, who is there to assess the veracity of claims that the friend’s son has healing powers. Matthew Modine, Tim McInnerny, Fiona Shaw, Emily Berrington, Russell Tovey and Geraldine Somerville co-star. It is produced by The Electric Shadow Co.

“We Go On” is a supernatural thriller produced by U.S. company Filmed Imagination. It stars Clark Freeman as a man, paralyzed by his fear of dying, who offers a reward to the first person who can definitively prove to him that there is life after death or that death is truly final. Annette O’Toole, Giovanna Zacarias and John Glover co-star.

Mechoulam said the new company’s fully funded production arm would launch soon. The team also includes Jennifer Dawson as head of international servicing.

“With more than 20 years’ combined experience, [Elie and I] are perfectly positioned to not only help commercially viable films enter the marketplace but also provide a fully integrated service that ranges from production consultancy to festival strategy and distribution,” said Couret-Delegue.
