Filmart: 'The Gaelic King' rules for Truffle

EXCLUSIVE: Fantasy feature goes to North America, UK and Japan in flurry of deals.

Truffle Pictures announce sales in major territories on fantasy action adventure THE GAELIC KING. 4Digital Media, a third party distributed label of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, has acquired UK and North America rights with an initial release set for July 2017 in the UK. Deals have also been closed with Italia Film for the Middle East; Draka Distribution for Italy and Interfilm in Japan. All deals were negotiated by Caroline Couret-Delègue of Truffle Pictures. 

The film was directed by Philip Todd from a script by Philip Todd and Matthew Todd. The ensemble cast includes Jake McGarry, Shona Melrose, Kerry Browne, Noah Irvine and Peter Cosgrove. The film has been produced by Nathan Todd with Jezz Vernon and Caroline Couret-Delègue executive producing on behalf of Truffle Pictures. 

Set in the war-torn dark ages of 800AD Scotland, THE GAELIC KING tells the story of warrior-king Alpin mac Eachdach and his young brother Finn who are forced into exile when their family is brutally murdered by a rival Pictish king. Alpin and Finn arrive at a small village to discover it being oppressed by an evil sorceress. Finn is captured by her demonic creatures and Alpin sets out on a hunt that will test him to the limits and teach him what it means to be king.
